On the afternoon of December 4, 2020, the Shanghai Municipal Popular Science Education Innovation Award Ceremony was convened at Shanghai Children’s Art Theatre to commend individuals and organizations that had made outstanding contributions to science popularization in Shanghai. Prof. Jiang Xuefeng from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of ECNU won the Shanghai Municipal Popular Science Education Innovation Award--- First Prize in the Popular Science Contribution Award.

Prof. Jiang Xuefeng has not only conducted extensive and in-depth work on science popularization in TV and radio, online media and community schools, but also promoted scientific knowledge, logic, and spirit through various means and using different materials, in an effort to nurture a fine scientific and ecological environment for the construction of Shanghai Science and Innovation Center.
He has been invited several times by CCTV, Shanghai Media Group, China Science Communication and other media to popularize science. In January 2020, he was invited by CCTV-10 to popularize chirality science as well as the “universal” chiral catalyst (30 minutes) , where he elaborated on the chiral substances and phenomena in life and their use in daily life. In September 2020, he was invited to the CCTV Lecture Room for the 45-minite science popularization program “Magic Chemistry”. In October 2020, he was invited to the 30-minute CCTV program “Insight into New Technology” and spoke on“Green Chemistry and Life”. From 2018 to 2020, he has also be invited to many programs of Shanghai People's Broadcasting Station, such as Geek High Tea, Hundred Thousand Whys, and Science and Education, to highlight the importance and values of chemistry in life.

In October 2020, Prof. Jiang was invited to the 30-minute CCTV program “Insight into New Technology”.
The Shanghai Municipal Science Population Education Innovation Award was founded by Shanghai Science and Education Development Foundation (SSEDF) in 2012. It is not only the first comprehensive popular science award funded by social forces in China, but also one of the earliest, the most influential and the most extensive municipal popular science awards in Shanghai.
