Chunfen, also called “March Equinox” or “Spring Equinox”, is the fourth solar term. This year, it falls on March 20th. Characterized by balance, Chunfen plays an important role in Chinese culture. On this day, as the sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 0 degrees (the equator), the lengths of daytime and night time on the whole planet are approximately the same.
Around Chunfen, most parts of China have stepped into spring. Swallows begin to make their northward migration, thunderstorms occur more frequently, and everything on earth comes back to life in the spring warmth. Chunfen is a great time for sightseeing.
By now, East China Normal Univeristy campuses are a sea of flowers. Cherry blossoms have already come out along the Yingtao River. Do get out to enjoy the flowers and sunshine!
