28 March, the 1st Youth Forum on Medicine was hosted at ECNU. It was undertaken by the Institute of Medicine and Health of ECNU and supported by Wuhu Hospital Affiliated to ECNU. The eventconcluded at the university’s Minhang campus after three days of discussions. Presided over by Prof. Guan Youfei, honorary president of the Institute of Medicine and Health, the forum attracted approximately 2,000 medical scholars, who participated in the discussions both online and offline.

At the four academic lectures, scholars shared ideas in fields ranging from gene editing and genetic diseases, energy and metabolic regulation, cardiovascular disease pathogenesis, organ aging, targeted drug delivery, kidney physiology and disease physiology regulation.
Young scholars are a talent pool for the future workforce and the main force for China’s national development and rejuvenation. The Institute of Medicine and Health of ECNU plans to host a series of academic meetings on medicine for young scholars in this field on a regular basis, in an effort to build a platform for frontier academic exchanges among global young talents of medicine and health.
Officially inaugurated in May 2020, the Institute of Medicine and Health of ECNU aims to improve its medical and health discipline and cultivate new talents in the medical and health fields. It marks a new step forward in the university’s medical discipline development. For this purpose, ECNU has imported a group of excellent experts in medical education and research, injecting vitality into the development of the Institute.
In November 2020, the Wuhu Hospital Affiliated to ECNU was officially recognized as a member of the ECNU family. In addition, ECNU has carried out in-depth cooperation with Huadong Sanatorium and jointly built the Center for Brain and Behavior Research and Evaluation, the Center for Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence Research and the Center for Psychological Health. Moreover, the university’s undergraduate program, Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation, was also approved by the Ministry of Education as a new undergraduate program.
