The journey begins: ECNU welcomes freshman class

East China Normal University (ECNU) kicks off its Week of Welcome with move-in dates on the 30th and 31st of August for students living on the Putuo and Minhang campuses.

Over 200 student volunteers met new ECNUers at Shanghai’s major railway stations. On the campuses, volunteers helped freshmen carry their luggage and find their departments, showed them around the campus, and so on. University faculty and staff were also out to greet the students and provide support.

“We want to make them feel welcomed and loved on their first day at ECNU, the university they have chosen. We wish that, with our effort, the freshmen students can feel at home with ECNU and start their university life with great expectations,” said the teachers from the university’s Youth League Committee.

To guarantee the full restoration of the teaching order, the university had also strengthened campus pandemic prevention and control. Security personnel at the school gate will check every entrant’s health code, identify their campus card (ID card) and monitor their body temperature.

Freshmen from other provinces and cities outside of Shanghai must provide negative COVID-19 test results. After entering the university, they also need to attend the COVID-19 test organized by the university on September 1 and 2.

Among the 10,745 freshmen, 3,990 are undergraduates, and 6,754 are postgraduate students. Among all the students, 4.6% are international students.
