WANG Rongming was born in July 1965 in the city of Anqing, Anhui Province in China. Wang is a Ph. D program supervisor, a professor at Faculty of Economics and Management, a vice president and a member of the University Council at ECNU. He is also a member of the current National Discipline Appraisal Team for Academic Degree Committee at China State Council.

Education & Work Experience 

Prof. Wang Rongming obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Mathematics at Anhui Normal University in 1986. In 1991, he received a master’s degree of science from Beijing Normal University and a Ph. D degree from the Department of Statistics at East China Normal University in 1997. 

Prof. Wang Rongming started his career as a teaching faculty at Department of Mathematics at Anhui Normal University in 1986. After receiving a Ph. D degree from the Department of Statistics at ECNU, Prof. Wang began to teach at ECNU in 1997 as a lecturer and became a professor in 2002. He was nominated as the chair of the Department of Statistics and dean of the School of Finance and Statistics at ECNU in 2002 and 2007 respectively. He has been a vice president and a member of the University Council at ECNU since December, 2014.

Academic Background 

Prof. Wang engages in the teaching and research of Statistics, and his research interests include actuarial science, risk management and mathematical finance. He was selected for the Program for New Century Excellent Talents established by China’s Ministry of Education, as well as for the Dawn Program and Outstanding Academic Guiders’ Program by the Shanghai Education Commission. He has presided over a “111 Project”, several National Natural Science and National Social Science Fund Projects and the Fund Project of the Doctoral Program of Ministry of Education. To date, Prof. Wang has published more than 50 research papers, over 30 of which are SCI and SSCI papers. As a professor with a devotion to teaching, Dr. Wang has participated in the compilation of three textbooks. Furthermore, he has been a member of National Postgraduate Educational Advisory Committee for Applied Statistics Professional Degree and has worked as an associate editor of Insurance: Mathematics and Economics and Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry.
