ECNU inks deal with Inspur.
ECNU reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Inspur Group, one of the world’s largest global datacenter and cloud computing solutions provider, at the Zhangshan Road North campus on September 23.
More than 30 officials and experts witnessed the signing of the contract, including ECNU president Chen Qun and vice president Zhou Aoying, academician He Jifeng, dean of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering; Lin Xueming, a distinguished professor of the country’s “Thousand Talents Program”; Inspur president Wang Maochang and vice president Sun Yezhi; and Cai Wei, vice head of the Planning and Advisory Institute.

Chen said that as one of China’s top comprehensive research universities, ECNU takes the lead in basic disciplines of art and science, education, statistics, and computer science and software engineering, as well as new interdisciplinary courses such as big data science.
Led by Prof. He, the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering is enjoying a boom, setting up a number of well-known research bases, such as International Cooperative Research Center, and State and Provincial-Level Engineering Center and Laboratory. The school has introduced high-quality scholars and young talents, and undertaken nearly 1,000 key State and provincial-level scientific research projects. It is on the forefront of highly trusted computering and big data in the country.
The two parties will build ECNU-Inspur Joint Lab.
Chen said his university has paid great attention to enhancing cooperation with advanced science research institutes and enterprises, giving full play to scientific innovation, and accelerating the in-depth integration of technology and economy. He believed the university’s deal with Inspur will bring cooperation between both parties into a new phase, which will bear fruits.
Inspur president Wang appreciated ECUN’s effort in making the cooperation happen. According to him, Inspur, as one of China’s leading IT services provider, has powerful strength in both software and hardware categories. It is the mother company of four listed companies - Inspur Electronic Information Industry Co. Ltd., Inspur Software, Inspur International and Huaguang Optoelectronic. The company provides services of cloud computing and management, software design and production to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.

Wang said the company also values cooperation with universities and institutions, and hoped its cooperation with ECNU in big data, cloud computing and urban public services will be able to do a part in the country’s economic and social development. He said he was confident that the cooperation of scientific innovation, talent training and information will achieve mutual benefits for both sides.
According to the agreement, both parties will make full use of their own advantages to improve comprehensive application ability of big data mining and analysis, and to develop advanced technology in public service big data service.
Also at the ceremony, the two parties inked another deal to build ECNU-Inspur Joint Lab.
Before the ceremony, ECNU leaders met with Inspur executives and exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues.
