The university took another step toward university-enterprise cooperation by cutting a strategic cooperation deal with Xuhui Group on December 21, 2016.
The signing ceremony at the Zhongbei campus was witnessed by more than 60 officials and representatives from both parties, among whom were former Shanghai Vice Mayor Hu Yanzhao; Tong Shijun, chairman of ECNU Council; ECNU’s president Chen Chun; vice presidents Sun Zhenrong, Mei Bing and Dai Liyi; Qin Guoli, president assistant; Lin Zhong and Lin Feng, president and CEO of Xuhui.
Also at the ceremony, an education cooperation framework agreement was inked.
Both parties agreed to conduct cooperation in basic education, talent training, industry aggregation, campus construction and supporting facilities according to the principle of achieving mutually beneficial win-win cooperation through complementarities.
Valuing basic education cooperation paramount, the two sides will strive to establish a strong brand image featuring science education and build K12 schools that highlight STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).
In talent training, Xuhui will render help to ECNU in establishment of academician work stations, development of key disciplines and exploration of new research fields. In return, the university will help the firm build post-doctoral scientific research station and tailor plans to train talent for the enterprise.
Xuhui Charity Federation will team up with ECNU Education Development Foundation to set up a fund to financially support ECNU teachers and students in carrying out aid programs in poverty-stricken areas. Meanwhile, Xuhui will employ graduates of the university.
The firm will construct high-quality buildings for the use of scientific research and academic exchange in the Minhang campus and donate them to the university. It will also fund landscape construction of the LiwaRiver and take part in the construction of international student apartments and teacher apartments around the university.
