ECNU vice president, Wang Rongming, led a delegation to visit universities in Belgium and the Netherlands from May 8 to May 13.
They celebrated the first anniversary of the Confucius Institute in the Universit libre de Bruxelles (ULB) at their first stop in Belgium. Then they met with their Holland counterparts at the Technische Universiteit Delft in the Netherlands (TUDN), where they discussed plans to open up a Chinese-Holland Joint Ecological Research Center and International Joint Lab of Estuarine and Coastal Research.
Meanwhile, ECNU’s visiting scholars spoke with local students and professors at the TUDN about their ideas to expand scientific cooperation and exchange programs for teachers and students at ECNU and the Holland university. So that China and the Netherlands can further increase the level of cooperation and contributions in the academic field.
The delegation met with ECNU staff and volunteers working at the Confucius Institute in ULB during their visit to Belgium. They also paid a visit to the postgraduate students from ECNU studying in the TUDN on joint-exchange programs to observe their work and progress.
Members of the ECNU delegation included Zhou Yunxuan, head of the International Exchange Division; Zhou Yong, director of Confucius Institute Affairs Office; Tan Li, secretary of the Foreign Affairs Office of the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research (SKLEC); Ding Pingxing, dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences; and He Qing, vice head of SKLEC.
