ECNU ranks 21st in Times Higher Education’s Asia University Rankings 2018


The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2018.

Times Higher Education(THE) has published this year's 2018 Asia University Rankings according to the 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings. In a way to more accurately categorize these Asian institutions, all the while not deviating from the standardization of practice of the THE rankings, the indicators were recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia's top universities.

ECNU ranks 89th of the Asian institutions.

There are altogether 286 institutions - 101 of them from Chinese mainland - that made their way onto the list from 13 countries and regions. East China Normal University(ECNU) ranks 89th of the Asian countries and 21st of Chinese mainland universities.

Core missions and indicators of THE Asia University Rankings.

In order for these universities to be judged comprehensively, according to available data and reliable comparative evaluations, all of them adhere to the following core missions – teaching(25%), research(25%), citations(25%), international outlook(7.5%) and industry income(7.5%).

ECNU scores 4th place on the International Outlook rankings among Chinese mainland universities.

As a result of evident progress, ECNU managed to score 4th place on the International Outlook rankings for their ability to attract undergraduates, graduates and researchers from across the globe; the university also climbed to 15th for Citations in Chinese mainland, 28th for teaching, 32nd for research, and 43rd for industry income. The top three on International Outlook are Nanjing University, Peking University and Tongji University, respectively.

In terms of the finalist universities in THE Asia University Ranking 2018, National University of Singapore takes the lead, and is followed by Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Melbourne, and Hong Kong University. Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and East China Normal University score top four in Shanghai.
