ECNU's Environmental Ecology ranks highly in global elite

According to the latest data released by Clarivate Analytics’ Essential Science Indicators (ESI) on March 15, 2024, ECNU’s "Environment/Ecology" discipline ranks 185th out of 1,881 high-level research institutions worldwide, marking our university's second discipline to enter the top 1‰ in ESI rankings globally. This accomplishment signifies a new breakthrough in the construction of our university's first-class disciplines in "Ecology+".  

The statistical period covered in this ESI data update spans from January 1, 2013 to December 12, 2023. A total of 2,555 papers from ECNU in the field of Environment/Ecology were included by Web of Science (WOS), amassing 65,942 citations and 76 top papers. Among the 1,881 institutions whose discipline of Environment/Ecology had entered the global top 1% cohort, ECNU ranks 185th, underscoring the university's distinguished reputation and growing global influence in the domain of Ecology and Environmental science.  

Essential Science Indicators (ESI) holds international recognition as a pivotal tool for assessing the academic stature and influence of universities and academic institutions, as well as countries and regions. Based on a variety of metrics including the number of publications, citation frequency, average citations per paper, highly cited papers, and papers identified as particularly influential in their fields, ESI offers a comprehensive evaluation of the academic research capabilities of relevant countries and regions, the academic reputation of institutions, the scholarly impact of scientists, and the academic quality of journals, all through the lens of scholarly publications.
