“ChatGPT and Future Education” discussion held

ChatGPT is the latest AI-powered natural language processing tool, which has receiving widespread attention because of the exceptional capabilities in understanding languages and creating texts. But the advent of this advanced technology has also led to some interesting questions. How to respond to the challenges and shocks delivered by ChatGPT in the transformational era of digitization in higher education? How to make full use of ChatGPT to boost education reform and transformation to better plan for the future? How to understand, interpret and predict the relationship between ChatGPT and the future education from multiple perspectives of educational theory and practice? Faced with technological reform and innovation, higher education must be considered when responding to these kind of emerging technologies’ impact on society.

In order to explore these issues and guide the academic direction, the “ChatGPT and Future Education” discussion was held on 4 March 2023. It was jointly held by the Educational Research magazine and the Basic Education Reform and Development Research Institution of ECNU, a key national humanities and social science research base institution.
