ECNU Review of Education included into Scopus database

The Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) has included the English language journal of East China Normal University (ECNU),ECNU Review of Education(ROE), into the Scopus database. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. The journal was notified of the decision this weekby CSAB, a world-renowned database system of scientific papers and journals that inputs and stores bibliographical references.

In an official notice sent to the journal, the CSAB members concurred that ROE has consistently provided scientific papers with rigorous knowledge of interest to international academia and professionals alike.

As of 2019, the journal had been indexed by many high-profile databases, including Google Scholar in 2018 and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and U.S. Education Resources Information Center database in 2019. This reveals that ROE has reached a new level of interest among academia worldwide.

Launched in New York on April 15, 2018, ROE is the first English language academic journal of pedagogy in China.

Two months after its official launch, the journal became accessible on International Publishing, a key platform to introduce Chinese publications internationally. The journal first went online through SAGE Journals and was then indexed by Google Scholar and the English journal database of Chinese Social Sciences and Humanities, all in one year’s time. It was later added to DOAJ and indexed by the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) database. 20 months after its publication, the journal had 25,000 visits and downloads. The figure accumulated to more than 56,000 in two years total.

Chen Shuangye, Associate Editor of ROE and a professor from ECNU's Facuty of Education, said that it is very encourging to see the jounnal become so popular after it was published in only two years. She acknowledged the joint efforts of both Chinese and international educators and vowed to keep building on the success of world-class education journals.

The Scopus database is retrospective in nature, that is, all the articles published by ROE since it was launched can now be indexed in the database. This is significant for educators worldwide as the journal publishes various subjects in education around the globe.
