To study in more depth the problems facing the e-sports industry and contribute to the effort of Shanghai to build itself into a “Global Capital City of E-sports”, ECNU has integrated its advantages in disciplinary studies, talents, technology and other resources and established the E-sports Industry Development Research Center, which was officially approved as the think tank of Shanghai Universities in 2019. The think tank has two foci. Firstly, it focuses on the entire industry chain of e-sports and conducts research in the industrial ecology and new consumers to explore a path for high-quality development. Secondly, it is committed to talent cultivation for the e-sports industry, paying attention to the healthy growth of junior e-sports players and issues of education under the new scenario. In addition, the think tank also researches on e-sports standards and specifications, IP confirmation of events, e-sports derivatives, research and development of hardware equipment and others.
