Professor Huang Guoxiang’s Team Made Breakthrough in PT Symmetry Research



ECNU Professor Huang Guoxiang and his research team in State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy made a breakthrough in PT symmetry research in collaboration with Professor Vladimir V. Konotop from University of Lisbon and published their research result in a paper entitled as “PT Symmetry with a System of Three-Level Atoms” in the 110th issue of Physical Review Letters, a world top academic journal in physics, on February 22, 2013.


At present, the importance of PT symmetry is still under debate and researchers have been concentrating on experimental research on the basis of passive optical system. Instead of copying predecessors’ methods, Professor Huang Guoxiang and his team designed a new light-atoms interacting model which starts a new direction in PT symmetry research.


In recent years, Huang and his team achieved quantities of results in researches of nonlinear excitation of Bose-Einstein condensates, transparent and nonlinear optical properties of electromagnetically induced coherent atomic medium, etc. And they have published numbers of papers in world renowned physics journals and addressed many times at international academic conferences.
