Olympic champion cycles with ECNUers to appreciate spring

04/15/2023

On April 12th, two-time Olympic champion Zhong Tianshi cycled with one hundred students around ECNU’s Minhang Campus. This activity was co-organized by Shanghai Administration of Sports and ECNU for the purpose of appreciating the arrival of spring season.

While cycling together with ECNU students, Zhong Tianshi shared her personal experience: “A nation will be strong when its young people are strong. Only a strong country can let me raise the national flag and sing the national anthem at the Olympic Games. Let’s make our due contributions to the new journey of developing our country.”

The activity has also conveyed a concept of low carbon and environmental protection, while advocating for the lifestyle of green travel. It also encouraged more ECNUers to take up sports, engaging with them on how to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle with a sports and fitness routine.

At the sound of the starting gun, Zhong Tianshi led the cycling group to start from the library and ride around the campus along the “Cultural Corridor- Cherry River”. Olympic red, bicycle blue and the young figures of ECNUers jointly constituted the most vivid color in the spring campus.

“I felt exhilarated to meet Olympic Champion in such a close proximity”, said He Yijing, a student from the School of Foreign Languages.
