ECNUers write spring couplets to celebrate the Year of the Snake

01/15/2025

On the afternoon of January 8, Minhang Campus Library at East China Normal University (ECNU) was festooned with vibrant red spring couplets, as blessings and anticipation for the upcoming Spring Festival were vividly conveyed through the medium of thick black ink on red paper. This marked the opening of ECNU's annual traditional culture event, "Everyone Writes Spring Couplets."

Starting in 2013, ECNU has continuously hosted the spring couplet writing event for ten consecutive years.

At the opening ceremony, two professors of calligraphy, Zhang Suo and Gu Qin, jointly kicked off the event by writing couplets. Students from the College of Fine Arts followed suit, showcasing their talents with the brush. The library hall was bustling with people, all appreciating the artistic expression of words through the lines and strength of calligraphy. The red spring couplets brought a festive and joyful atmosphere which was reflected in everyone's faces.

From January 9th to the 17th, during weekday hours, "Everyone Writes Spring Couplets" activity stations will be set up in the library halls of both ECNU campuses. All faculty and students are welcome to participate in this event filled with traditional cultural charm, jointly writing their best wishes for the new year.
