Guyu, which falls on April 20th this year, is the 6th and last solar term of spring according to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. It means that there will be no more significant temperature drops.
Literally, Guyu can be translated as Grain Rain. When Guyu comes, it brings a marked increase in temperature and precipitation, making it the right time for farmers to plant crops.
Guyu is also important to the growth of the peony, “King of Flowers” in China, since the flower will enter its peak blooming period by then. For this reason, the peony is also known as “Flower of Guyu”.
Due to the plenty rainfall and high humidity around Guyu, ECNUers need to be more alert to climate changes to stay healthy.
