On December 16, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and ECNU& the opening ceremony of Shanghai International Trade Center Research Base was hosted at ECNU.

According to the agreement, both parties will focus on upgrading Shanghai International Trade Center and will carry out in-depth study on major issues, reforms, innovations and key projects and platforms concerning the construction of Shanghai International Trade Center. They will join hands in building high-end think tanks, conducting thematic studies and training business talents, with a view to providing intellectual and talent support for the construction of a new pattern of the international trade center in Shanghai which depends mainly on the national economic cycle and is simultaneously promoted by the double economic cycles both at home and abroad. With all these efforts, they aim at elevating commercial development to a new stage.

Mei Bing, Chair of ECNU Council, looked forward to the enhanced coordination between the two parties for the construction of the base. She expressed her hope that both sides will strive to solve some critical problems in the economic and social development of Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta, the country and even the world, and that they could offer a “Shanghai Model” for Chinese as well as world development.
