Mei Bing appointed ECNU University Council chairwoman

Mei Bing is appointed as University Council chairwoman of  ECNU.

Mei Bing was appointed chairwoman of ECNU University Council by the Ministry of Education on Dec 11, replacing Tong Shijun, who had retired from the position due to his age.

The announcement was made by Tian Xuejun, China’s vice minister of education, at a conference attended by officials from the Ministry and Shanghai education authority.

Born in July 1967, Mei Bing began her career at ECNU in July 1992, and joined the CPC in December 1996. She received her Ph.D degree in botany from ECNU and is currently a professor of neurobiology. She became a member of the Standing Committee of the ECNU University Council in December 2012 and subsequently has served as the vice president of ECNU from July 2013.
