November 28, the 2019 China-Russia Physical Education Forum was held at ECNU with representatives from 18 universities of the China-Russia Educational University Alliance. They discussed Sino-Russian physical education cooperation as well as future projects to be made by the Alliance. This is the first sports education forum held under the framework of the Sino-Russian Educational University Alliance, and it is also the first time that the national education community has held a bilateral sports education forum in China.

In the keynote report, one of the Chinese experts emphasized the cultivation of students by what he called the Trinity in identifying three core ideas: athletic ability, healthy behavior, and sports ethics. Another Russian expert emphasized mental health education and teaching healthy social values for students.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia Educational University Alliance. In 2018, the China-Russia Educational University Alliance Working Conference with representatives of universities from China and Russia voted to pass and sign the new constitution of the China-Russia Educational University Alliance.

Since 2014, members of the Alliance have organized activities such as the Russian Olympic Games “To Russia”, the Chinese Olympic Games “To Beijing”, the tour of the “China-Russia Exchange Week” art troupe, and the “Russian Studies” International Graduate Forum with China-Russia educational exchanges. This year the focus was on how to enhance fitness and health through physical education, how to further promote sports exchange between China and Russia under the current international system, what changes will China-Russia sports exchange face in the context of the Winter Olympics and how will popular winter sports inspire China's winter sports culture.
