At the 5th Anniversary concert, entitled To My Love,nearly 200 spectators were in attendance to hear the performance of the “Heart Rhythm” choir.As compared to most traditional forms of choir, this concert was more like a group of energetic youth who used classroom notes to express themselves through music.

Starting off with the song My Dream,the arrangement was divided into three parts: To, My and Love. This special method to conduct the show was highly praised by members of the choir.
For the audience, the members of the choir were noticeably full of affection at times, embodying a fantastic spirit throughout the whole concert.
In addition to a series of classic songs like Seasons of Love, they also reviewed the overall development of the choir in its past five years whereby the audience could share in the melodrama through short custom-made videos.
The atmosphere in the concert hall was so lively due to the active interactions between the performers and audience.
At the end of the performance, a song adapted from the classic comic song of the Rainbow Choir - The Spring Festival Self-help Guide (Psychological Edition) - brought the concert to its a climax. The lyrics had been re-composed by members of Heart Rhythm reflecting on the misunderstandings - in a humorous tone - about psychology from the public, as well as the psychology majors’ inner struggles from an academic perspective. A round of applause roared in response to the performance closing.
“Heart Rhythm” is a group composed entirely of “Super scholars” from the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science of ECNU. The choir also serves as a rare case for universities in Shanghai since it was organized by a non-professional school department of ECNU in 2014.
When talking about the original intentions of establishing such a group, Dong Wei, the founder and director of the “Heart Rhythm”choir and secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences, said: Choir and psychology can both bring warmness to people. As a choir member since my early years, I have benefited a lot from my experiences, so I want to bring this same warmness to students. I also feel the college has always been committed to cultivating students who have a sense of responsibility to society and a sense of mission to this major.”
Dong Wei concluded by telling her aspiration for leading the choir in the future.We hope that through the establishment of this choir that our students will bring this power and warmth to more and more people. And with a professional spirit too.
