According to the list of the 2019 International Cooperative Training Projects for Innovative Talents, two joint-training programs of ECNU and foreign universities will be financially sponsored by the China Scholarship Council.

The two recipients are the ECNU-ENS Joint Doctoral Dual-Degree Program and the Sino-Norwegian-Russian International Governance and Business Master’s Program. The former will be implemented through the Graduate School and International Office, and the latter by the School of Advanced International and Area Studies (SAIAS).
Both of these programs passed the expert review at an oral defense held at the Northeast Normal University. Zhang Wen, executive vice head of the Graduate School, and Liu Jun, head of SAIAS, made presentations about the two programs at the defense hearing.
The ECNU-ENS Joint Doctoral Dual-Degree Program, also known as the Program of Sino-French Education for Research, had been included in the council's 2016 list. It was approved to continue its funding in 2019.
The doctorate students participated in international seminars.
The joint-program by ECNU and ENS has fostered 148 doctorate students since it started in 2002. 98 of them having graduated and are now working in their respective fields. The program is a major highlight of ECNU's international post-graduate academic projects and is positively carried forward by the cooperation of Chinese and French governments.
The Sino-Norwegian-Russian International Governance and Business Master’s Program is jointly initiated by the SAIAS of ECNU, University Nord of Norway and Moscow Institute of International Relations. Focusing on international energy cooperation and multinational investments, the program aims to cultivate high-level professional talents in studying petroleum, natural gas and international cooperation between transnational corporations.

Topping the country in recipient of funds for academic cooperation, seven of ECNU’s programs have been granted financial aid by China Scholarship Council since 2014, when the council launched the International Cooperative Training Projects for Innovative Talents. The ECNU-ENS Program of Sino-French Education for Research (in science) was among China's26 projects to initially receive such funding in 2014.
ECNU currently ranks at the top among national universites which it has dispatched 58 postgraduates whom were financially aided by the council to study in 10 universities in seven countries,including the United States, France and Germany.
This year, the approval of the two international cooperative programs is believed to be advancing the internationalization of ECNU's post-graduate education system and cultivation of the most innovative, well-rounded and in demand post-graduates in the world.
