ECNU and HKU launch scholarly exchange program for undergraduates

Under the First Global Scientific Elites Scholarly Exchange Program launched by ECNU and the University of Hong Kong (HKU), forty model undergraduates from ECNU visited the acclaimed university in Hong Kong from January 20-27.

The new exchange program aims to widen students' global outlook, foster scientific literacy, encourage academic research and develop creativeness. In order to further understand different cultures accross the world, the program intends to focus on aspects of global understanding to enhance cross-cultural communication.  

The students come from a wide variety of majors comprising 17 subjects, including mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, biotechnology, environmentalsciences, geography, microelectronics science and engineering, psychology and educational technology.

  During the visit, they attended classes on globalization, 3-D printing, quantitative literacy in scientific technology and society and big data era and neurological sciences.Additionally, they took part in workshops on various themes, such as critical thinking in contemporary society, professional English writing skills, and innovation and creativity.  

While being shown around the campus, the ECNU model undergraduates were able to join in with local students during their classes where they exchanged views with each other on content related to global understanding.

To become a world-class university, ECNU has been tapping into its cooperation with global counterparts as a way to provide opportunities for its undergraduates to study overseas and cultivate their adaptability skills when faced with foreign cultures.  

In building a diversified platform for science and technology, the ECNU-HKU global exchange program encourages students to take the lead in understanding of the frontier sciences by drawing on their experiences and academic research.  

Group discussion.

ECNU will dispatch more undergraduates to study in prestigious global universities and laboratory visits by initiating joint-training programs, exchange programs, overseas study programs and summer camps in the following years. At the academic level, these initiatives aim to hone in on students' scientific research and experiences with new cultures and ideas.
