ECNU established an intercollegiate link with Brazil Mendez University in 2015, aiming to jointly set up a Latin American Culture Research Center to conduct cross-disciplinary studies in politics, history, sociology, philosophy and culture. 2016 is the Chinese and Latin American cultural exchange year and the Latin American Culture Week was the first of its kind hosted by ECNU. The event acquaints local teachers and students with recent Latin American politics, history, society and culture, and expands the university's cooperation with international peers.
