
The Night of May Square Concert is held on Minghang Campus.
On the night of May 20, the square in front of the library in ECNU Minhang campus became an ocean of music and joy. Thousands of audience reveled in vocals performed by more than 120 musicians at the Night of May Square Concert.

Prof.Chang Lin is the conductor of the ECNU Symphony Orchestra.
With the ECNU Symphony Orchestra as the lead executant, the concert invited music heavyweights from home and abroad, including Tang Junqiao, a professor with Shanghai Conservatory of Music and well-known Chinese bamboo flutist, and her band; Rainbow Chamber Singers; soprano Gao Lingyuan, an alumna of ECNU and a vocal Ph. D. who has been living in Germany for years; and the ECNU singing group that competed in the Voice of School, a reality television singing competition franchise.
Prof. Chang Lin with the Department of Music of ECNU and Jin Chengzhi, a member of the Rainbow Chamber Singers, were the conductors.




Wonderful performances make the concert attractive.
The concert started with the “Academic Festival Overture”by German classic composer Johannes Brahms. Soprano Gao's songs of “Peace, Peace” and “I Love You, China” struck a chord with patriotic listeners. Played by teachers and students of the ECNU Department of Music, the soundtrack provided by Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi for“My Neighbor Totoro”, a Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, was full of childishness and playfulness.

ECNU's Voice of School contestants sang a revised version of “I Love You, China” and the song of "Loving ECNU”, touching every fan of the university, who gave rapturous applauses.
Famous Chinese bamboo flute player Tang Junqiao gave a solo of the music for the Oscar-winning movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. Tang's recording of Dizi and Bawu music for the movie won Oscar and Grammy awards.
The Rainbow Chamber Singers performed the song of “Zhang Shichao, Where Did You Put My Home Key?”written by Jin Chengzhi with symphony for the first time. The song has been praised by netizens as a “divine tune”.

While asked about It is true that ECNU girls are so sweet?, Jin gave a positive answer. Amid great acclamation, the Rainbow Chamber Singers sang the“Song of the Fifth Ring”.
Sponsored by ECNU Culture Construction Committee and Publicity Department, co-hosed by ECNU International Exchange Division and undertaken by the Department of Music of ECNU, the Night of May Square Concert has been held for six consecutive years. The outdoor concert takes on diverse styles and enjoys increasing popularity among ECNUers and residents in the neighborhood.
