ECNU President Chen Qun and Zhang Minggao, editor-in-chief of the website: www.teacheredu.cn, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Ma Guochuan, secretary general of China Education 30 Forum, presided over the meeting.

In his speech, Chen said the theme of the summit is of momentous current significance, given that China's leadership rolled out the structural reform of the supply front at the Central Economic Work Conference at the end of last year. The policy is not just about economic reform. It provides a new solution to educational reform, which will improve the efficiency of education input, optimize structure of talent training, and give more and better options for the educated as well. In the end, equal education, which is in the limelight of the public, can be realized by optimized distribution of education resources, Chen said.

The forum attracts more than 500 educactors from home and abroad.

The summit highlighted the relationship between education equity and six other subjects -- institutional innovation, education efficiency, reform of the National College Entrance Examinations, Internet innovation, teaching students according to their aptitude, and urbanization.

It was agreed at the summit that equal access to education is a common goal pursued by the human kind as well as a key symbol for a civilized country. It affects millions of households and lifelong development of individuals and is one of top concerns of the government, which has called for greater push for equal education so that every one has an opportunity to change their own destiny through education.

Yuan Zhenguo, who is vice chairman of China Education Association, director of ECNU Faculty of Education, and a tenured professor of the university, made a summary before the summit ended.

2016 is the launch year of China's 13th Five-Year Plan as well as a key year towards the goal of education modernization.
