Shanghai Merger and Acquisition (M&A) Financial Research Institute, jointly set up by ECNU and the Putuo District Government, was inaugurated on April 28.

Tong Shijun, Chairman of the University Council of ECNU, and Zhou Minhao,Deputy Party Chief and Acting Head of the Putuo District, signed an agreement at a ceremony held in the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing.
Top leader of Putuo, Shi Xiaolin, attended the unveiling ceremony of the institute.
The event was part of a resources matching and promotion meeting of the Shanghai Putuo M&A Financial Agglomeration District.
Other officials present at the meeting included Shanghai Executive Vice Mayor Tu Guangshao, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC; Yu Beihua, Vice General Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Government; Zheng Yang, Director of the Shanghai Financial Services Office; Qian Jin, President of Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange; Yu Changhong, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Xinhua Daily Telegraph; and ECNU Vice President Wang Rongming.

Also at the meeting, the Shanghai International M&A Arbitration Center was unveiled and an agreement was inked to set up a science and innovation guidance fund.
Inaugurated on April 28, 2014, the Shanghai Putuo M&A Financial Agglomeration District, the only one of its kind in China, emerges as a key zone for China's cross-border M&A activities.
The Xinhua-Shanghai Putuo M&A Index is also launched at the ceremony.
The Shanghai M&A Financial Research Institute, a key project of the Shanghai Putuo M&A Financial Agglomeration District and the country's first M&A academy, strives to meet the demands of China's and Shanghai's economic development, carry out high-level research into financial issues relating to merger and acquisition, make itself a name as a top-level research base and a government think tank, and provide merger and acquisition professionals.
The Xinhua-Shanghai Putuo M&A Index, issued by Shanghai M&A Financial Research Institute, the Shanghai office of Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai Financial Association, and Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange, was China's first index for M&A transactions across the country.
