Ruan Rongchun Studio Professor Team Painting Exhibition & Contemporary Chinese Painting Academic and Creation Forum opened at Liu Haishu Art Museum in Shanghai on April 9.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition is held.
The exhibition, entitled “Observing Woods and Streams”, showcases traditional Chinese paintings of Prof. Ruan Rongchun and his team consisting of five of his students, all doctorate degree holders.

More than 100 Chinese paintings will be on display at the exhibition that will run until April 17. Carrying on the academic tradition of famous painters and senior masters of fine art history and theory, such as Huang Binhong, Pan Tianshou, Liu Haishu and Fu Baoshi, the exhibited artworks combine the fine art theory research with painting skills, and bring out the best in each other.
More than 100 Chinese paintings are on display at the exhibition.
A well-known scholar and artist, Prof. Ruan is a tutor of traditional Chinese painting postgraduate candidates. He was Vice President of Nanjing University of The Arts and head of Shanghai University Art Research Institute before taking the post of head of the ECNU Art Institute. A researcher of the China National Academy of Painting, Ruan is also a prestigious fine art historian and art educator who has students all over the world.
Meanwhile, 10 well-known experts and scholars from Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces and Shanghai exchanged views on the relationships between academic study and creation of Chinese painting at the Contemporary Chinese Painting Academic and Creation Forum that opened on the same day.
