ECNU signs cooperation agreement with LDU

On January 19, ECNU and Laureate Design Universities (LDU) established Global Art & Design Academy (GADA) at the Fashion Center of the School of Design of ECNU.

GADA is composed of the School of Design of ECNU and five first-class art and design academies under LDU, including  Domus Academy and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (NABA) in Italy, Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) in the United States, New School of Architecture & Design in San Diego, California, and The Media Design School (MDS) in Auckland, New Zealand.

After the establishment of GADA, the School of Design of ECNU and other members of GADA will mutually acknowledge credits, share courses, diplomas, teachers and other resources. GADA members will jointly recruit students through various forms such as 2+2 years for undergraduates and 2+1 years for MFA graduate schools. School resources will also be open to the public through innovative online courses.

  

  ECNU and LDU sign cooperation agreement.

The 2+2 format for undergraduates includes two years in ECNU and two years in any other GADA member schools. Students will obtain double diplomas upon graduation. MFA postgraduate students will study at the ECNU in the first and third years, while choosing to study at any of the other GADA universities in the second year. Students will obtain double diplomas upon graduation. Members of the GADA will also exchange students on short terms.

Nearly 100 people attended the agreement-signing ceremony. They included: Ren Youqun, Vice President & Vice Chairman of the ECNU University Counci, Alexandra Grace, Education Counselor of New Zealand Embassy in China, Xu Huaying, Culture and Education Consulate of New Zealand Consulate General in Shanghai, Marc Ledermann, Senior Vice President of LDU, Xu Hongzhen, Director of Art MA Center, Chen Lingxi, Vice Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Wei Shaonong, Dean of the School of Design of ECNU, Italo Rota, Creative Director of Domus and NABA, staff and students of the School of Design, designers and educators, and reporters.

After the ceremony, ECNU President Chen Qun met Marc Ledermann, Senior Vice President of LDU.
