On February 5 2016, the Establishing Ceremony of the First Five Confucius Classrooms at University of Central Arkansas (UCA) was held at the President of UCA Residence.
First five Confucius Classrooms at UCA are established.
Tom Courtway, President of UCA, Dr. Zhuang Guo’ou, Director of the Confucius Institute at UCA, Dr. Lu Xiaohong, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at UCA, representatives of the Education Department of Central Arkansas, relevant directors and deans of UCA, as well as the Chinese teachers and representatives of Bentonville Public Schools, ASMSA, Hot Springs High School, Lighthouse Academies and Wynne High School of Central Arkansas attended the ceremony.

President Courtway extended congratulations to the newly established Confucius Classrooms, and expressed continuous support to the development of the Chinese education at UCA. Dr. Lu introduced the general information of the five Confucius Classrooms at Bentonville Public Schools、ASMSA、Hot Springs High School、Lighthouse Academies and Wynne High School.
The Confucius Institute at UCA was set up at 2008 with ECNU as its Chinese partner. Teachers of the Institute have been teaching Chinese and holding cultural activities in more than 10 school districts at Central Arkansas. With these teachers, efforts, more and more local residents have shown interest to the Chinese language and culture. Statistics now show that over 1300 students have applied for the Chinese courses in Central Arkansas. The newly established Confucius Classrooms will set up Chinese libraries, Chinese corners, and Chinese classrooms to create a better learning environment for those interested in the Chinese language and culture.
