2015 summary conference for undergraduate teaching held

ECNU held its annual conference for undergraduate teaching at Minhang campus on the afternoon of January 5. University leaders Tong Shijun, Chen Qun, Yang Changli, Guo Weilu, Mei Bing, Li Zhibin and Wang Rongmin, ECNU Teaching Committee Director Tan Fan, Assistant President Cheng Jing, and ECNU Teaching Committee Vice Director Dai Liyi participated in the conference.

Students and teachers who won various competitions in the past year —— including Toshiba Cup Teaching Contest, National Normal University Students’ Teaching Contest, University Students’ Modeling Contest, ACM International University Students Program Designing Contest, National Real Estate Planning Contest, and National University Students’ English Contest —— were awarded at the conference. Teachers whose courses were selected as excellent courses by the State and Shanghai Municipal Government were also awarded. 

Six teachers, including Ye Jun, Liu Sen, Du Zhenyu, Yi Lingfeng, Han Lei, and Guan Shuguang won Nengda Awards. Da Liangjun, Meng Zhongjie, Qian Chuxi, and Lan Faqin won Baogang Excellent Teacher Awards. Liu Qiaoyun, Ma Hongying, Liu Guihai, Sun Binyi, Sun Li and Kong Xiang won Most Popular Awards, which grant to teachers who have been voted as excellent teachers by undergraduates for five executive years.  

For the first time this year, a teachers’ contribution award was set up. It is open to teachers who have made important contributions in teaching and teaching management. A total of 28 teachers won the award.

Nine professors win the Teachers’ Contribution Awards.

Teachers’ Contribution Awards, the most distinguished awards for teachers in ECNU, were announced at last. The awards are divided into two levels: outstanding contribution awards, and great contribution awards. Zhang Chunbai of the School of Foreign Languages and Pang Xuechen of the Department of Mathematics both won the outstanding contribution awards. The prize was 100,000 yuan for each. Zhu Huibiao of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Lao Wuyi of the School of Information Science and Technologies, Gong Wenxiu of the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, Guweilie of the International College of Chinese Studies, Yuan Conggang of School of Life Science, Xu Mofan of the Department of Chinese Language, and Cao Jinrong of the Department of Music, won the great contribution awards. The prize was 50,000 yuan each. 

Before the ending of the conference, University Council Chairman Tong Shijun made a new year speech. On behalf of the university, he expressed great respect to award-winning teachers, congratulated the award-winning students, and thanked all the teachers and staff for their hard work. He said that the year 2016 was the beginning year of the 13th Five-Year Plan, and an important year for deepening reforms. He encouraged all departments to cultivate more talented people. He hoped that all the staff should learn from the award-winning teachers, so as to improve their teaching and researching abilities, and to cultivate more good students for the nation.
