Academician He Jifeng receives French State award

Academician He (Right) is awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.

Academician He Jifeng, the head of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, was awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques in recognition of his outstanding contribution in boosting sino-French cooperation in computer science.

The award ceremony was held at the French Consulate General in Shanghai on December. 2, 2015. Participants included He Jifeng and his wife, Tong Shijun, Chairman of ECNU University Council, Wang Rongming, Vice President of ECNU, and other representatives of ECNU. Ni Guyin, a primary school teacher of He, and Fang Mei Wen, a university teacher of He, were also invited to the event.

The Ordre des Palmes académiques (Order of Academic Palms) is a national order of  France for the distinguished academics and figures in the world of culture and education. The French Consul General in Shanghai Axel CRUAU thanked He Jifeng for his long-time work and contribution to sino-French cooperation in the area of computer science and technologies. He presented the order to He, who then gave a thank-you speech. The two parties then held an in-depth conversations.

He Jifeng is devoted to computer science and technologies and has done a lot to boost sino-French cooperation in the area. Led by He Jifeng, the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering has launched joint courses with several well-known French universities and exchanged visiting scholars.

ECNU has a long and fruitful history of cooperating with French universities. Since 2002, ECNU and Group des ENS started a joint postgraduate project. In 2005, the two parties set up a sino-French joint postgraduate school. In 2010, ECNU, ENS Lyon and French National Centre for Scientific Research established Joint Research Institute for Science and Society. In the area of computer science, in 2012, the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering became a member of LIAMA. ECNU signed a memo of cooperation with Institut Mines-Télécom, building a lab together with Esterel Technologies, along with building a lab and a national software research center together with Group des ENS, Rennes IRISA Lab.
