ECNU students win top prize at 2015 ARM ST Smart Device Competition

On November 27-28, the finals of the 2015 ARM ST Smart Devices Competition for College Students began. Of the 217 teams taking part in the competition, only 21 entered the final round. 

The ECNU team, composed of Zhong Yang, Sun Zhongjian and Huang Lei from the Department of Communication Engineering, was led by Jin Yu of the School of Information Science and Technology, won the top prize with their project “Intelligent reading system based on image recognition.” 

The system helps senior citizens with poor eyesight read medicine instructions. The system turns medicine instructions into a QR code, by scanning the code and then turns the code into sound.
