ECNU students win Red Dot Award

A design by ECNU’s own students Zhang Huimin, Yin Huijing and Wang Yuanhao won this years,   Red Dot Award for 2015, it was announced in Germany on September. 25.

The 2015 winners of this widely-acclaimed German award was unveiled on the 25th of September.. The ECNU students’ work, named “Personal Medical Treatment Guidance System”, stood out from the 4,680 other competitors. Zhang Huimin, Yin Huijing and Wang Yuanhao were all invited to the awards ceremony.

The three students’ teachers, Dai Yunting and Lu Junshi, had provided advice on the design, which also won the 2015 Lite-on Award in Taiwan.

The design aims at improving medical services in China, where an increasing population brings heavy pressures upon  hospitals. It is a personal medical navigation system that provides clear procedures and simple interfaces for patients to use and understand. The end product is composed of a recyclable mobile gadget provided by hospitals to patients and an individual information card that belongs to the patient. The product can provide real-time medical information, automatic queuing, and cloud-storage of medical records. With the use of this product patients no longer have to bring loads of medical records and test reports when visiting doctors, and enjoy a more improved medical service.

Red Dot Design Award was established by famous German design association Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. With a history of spanning more  than half a century, it is widely regarded as one of the top three design awards in the world. The two others are IF award in Germany and IDEA award in the United States. Winning the Red Dot award is widely regarded as the top honor for an industrial designer can achieve.
