Thermo Fisher Scientific(China)president visits ECNU

On the morning of Sept. 18, Gianluca Pettiti, President of Thermo Fisher Scientific (China), visited ECNU together with his colleagues.Also among the visitors was James Ladine, Vice President of the Innovation Center of Thermo Fisher Scientific (China), and ECNU alumni Chen Tao, who is the IT director of the company. 

Ren Youqun, Vice Chairman of the University Council and Vice President of ECNU, met with the visitors. Jiang Xuefeng, Vice Director of the S&T Department of ECNU, Prof Shi Tieliu of School of Life Sciences, Prof. Wang Changbo, Executive Vice President of School of Software, Dr. Wang Xiangfeng and staff members from the International Department all attended  the meeting.

Mr. Ren welcomed the visitors and introduced them all to the university campus. Mr. Pettiti  discussed the history and businesses of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Mr. Ladine briefly introduced  participants about the Innovation Center.

Prof. Shi Tieliu introduced his team’s progress on precise medicine, including database building, clinical data standardization, and electronic medical record data mining. He also introduced his team’s research on a high- data analysis platform.

Prof Wang Chengbo and Dr. Wang Xiangfeng introduced the Advanced Data Analysis Research Institute of Software School to the guests, and the school’s precise medicine research on pediatrics.

The two parties held discussions  on potential areas of cooperation between the two including clinical data standardization, high-throughput biome data analysis, cloud system application, and genetic testing. Both hope that the cooperation would further improve their Research and Development power, and industrialize the R&D achievements. Mr. Jiang also explained the workflow and steps of future cooperations.
