ECNU has recently set up the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering to optimize the university’s resources within the realm of Computer Science and Software Engineering. The new school integrates the School of Software and two organizations from the School of Information Science and Technology: Department of Computer Science and Technology, and the Computing Center.
A ceremony is held to commemorate the launch of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
On the afternoon of Sept. 25, a ceremony was held at Zhongbei campus to commemorate the launch of the new school. Participants of the ceremony included: University leaders Tong Shijun, Chen Qun, Yang Changli, and Mei Bing. Officials of relevant departments, leaders from the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, leaders of School of Information Science and Technology, staff of former Software School, staff of former Department of Computer Science and Technology, and other relevant staff members also attended the ceremony. Mei Bing, Vice President of the University, hosted the ceremony.
Prof. He Jifeng is appointed as Dean of the new school.
Yang Changli, Vice Chairman of the University Council, announced the launch of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, along with new appointments of school officials. He Jifeng was appointed as Dean of the new school. Li Kai was appointed as Chairwoman of the school council. Zhang Guixu and Wang Changbo became Executive Vice Dean of the school. Hong Yan became Vice Chairwoman of the school council and Vice president. Wang Xiaoling, Jiang Ningkang and Pu Geguagn all became Vice Dean of the newly founded school.
In his inauguration speech, Prof. He Jifeng said that the two major disciplines of Information Technology，computer science and software engineering，had entered an era of quick growth and incredible discovery. It was great timing for the new school to be founded when it was, said Prof. He Jifeng. He hoped that school staff would seize the opportunity, carefully plan out personal and school development, take advantage of the comprehensive university, try to succeed in the advancement of the IT area, and to gain the acknowledgement and appreciation of the society and the nation.
