As noted in Tong Shijun’s speech, which was delivered at the ceremony, ECNU has founded eight Confucius Institutes with universities and institutions in the United States and Europe since 2005. Furthermore, ECNU has established the Global Center for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and the International Teachers’ College of Chinese Language and Culture, successively. This marks the third time that ECNU has held an In-service Training Workshop for Confucius Institute Directors. It symbolizes the significant work ECNU has undertaken in spreading Chinese language and culture, and serves as encouragement for the University to dedicate more work towards the development of Confucius Institutes in the future.
