The Alliance will act as a platform to explore new approaches toward conducting cooperation in education and share experiences in nurturing talent, while forging closer bilateral ties with ASEAN. It will also serve as a catalyst for further involvement in the One Belt and One Road initiative, which was launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Tong and other leaders of 30 Chinese universities unveiled the plaque of the Alliance with UNESCO’s Deputy Director-General Getachew Engida, as well as Sok An, Yuan Guiren, Chinese Education Minister Yuan Guiren, and Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Qian Hongshan.
