Professor Zhu Ruiliang is awarded the Riclef Grolle Prize.
At the 2015 World Congress of the International Association of Bryologists, Professor Zhu Ruiliang of ECNU was awarded the Riclef Grolle Prize. It is significant that the important first prize went to a Chinese scholar.
The International Association of Bryologists (IAB), established in 1969, is a professional association promoting bryology (the study of mosses, liverworts, and hornworts) globally for both amateurs and professionals. Named after the renowned bryologist Riclef Grolle, the Riclef Grolle Award is given for excellence in the research of bryophytes every two years.

Zhu earned his Master’s Degree in Botany at ECNU in 1989, taking a teaching post at the University after graduating. In 2000, he received his Ph.D from Hong Kong Baptist University. Two years later, he went on to work as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Gottingen with a sponsorship from the Humbolt Foundation.
Mosses have become a special decoration of Professor Zhu's office.
