On May 24, the 8th annual Shanghai Student Television Festival was held at ECNU’s Minhang Campus, followed by a corresponding forum. Sun Zhenrong, Vice President of ECNU, and Yu Zhenwei, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Institute of Visual Art’s University Council, were among those who attended the opening ceremony.

Focusing the topic of “Crossing Borders, Crossing Screens: TV Carries Out Our Dreams”, Gao Yan, Deputy Director of the Phoenix Satellite Television Network, Wang Jiuping, Director of CCTV’s Movie Channel, and Song Yanli, a Post-Doctoral Fellow from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, exchanged their views on the present situation and future of TV programs. Wang attached great importance to resources integration, while Gao emphasized the importance of fusing innovation with passion.

Towards the end of the forum, noteworthy scholars Hong Junhao, Zhang Junde, and Lu Di analyzed the development pattern of TV in the new media era, and emphasized the high demand for new talent in this industry.
As an important part of the larger Shanghai Television Festival, the Shanghai Student Television Festival has become a well-known celebration of films and TV programs among college students. The 8th Shanghai Student Television Festival was co-held by ECNU and SIVA (Shanghai Institute of Visual Art).
