From May 23 to 25, the 1st International ICT and Post-2015 Education Conference & the 1st National Exhibition of ICT Application Achievements in Middle and Primary Schools took place in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Education officers, scholars, teachers, and representatives of IT enterprises in the education sector attended the conference, hailing from over 90 different countries. Focusing on the topic, Information Technology and Future Educational Reform, they discussed in great depth means of integrating education and information technology.

Representatives from ECNU attended every activity offered at the conference and exhibition, indicating the university's interest and strength in educational IT application, its understanding of relevant educational policies, its capacity for theoretical exploration, and its dedication to innovative research and development in education. For these efforts, the university earned widespread recognition from leaders at various levels, as well as from the participating institutions and enterprises.
Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of the State Council, and Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, witnessed the demonstration of the Synchronous Classroom System jointly developed by the ECNU Cloud Research Institute and the HSJC Group. They also attended the talks given by Ren Youqun, Vice Chairman of the University Council and Vice President of ECNU, and Gong Hao, President of the HSJC Group. Both of them acknowledged the university's recent efforts to promote educational equity in China via university-enterprise cooperation, and by investing in the research and development of education technology and resources.

At the conference, the products developed by the HSJC Group earned recognition from many well-known enterprises, including China Mobile, China Telecom, and Haier. On the morning of May 24, the HSJC Group made its debut at the Harmony Educational Platform news conference as China Mobile’s new strategic partner. The Group’s comprehensive solution, which had served as the catalyst for Hainan Province’s Department of Education and the Education Bureau of Shanghai’s Putuo District to jointly spur the application of information technology in the educational sector, drew major attention during the exhibition.
On the afternoon of May 20, right before the conference, Professor Ren Youqun, Secretary-General to the expert panel of IT Application in China's Education Sector, Vice Chairman of the University Council, and Vice President of ECNU, took part in a micro-interview via the official microblog of the News Office of the Ministry of Education of China. Focusing on the theme of integrating information technology to achieve educational reform, he provided an explanation as to how the Internet, big data, and cloud computing could promote profound reforms in educational concepts and methods and in various learning environments. In a speech titled Big data: China's educational decision-making support system, Chen Guoliang, President of the Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences and Executive Vice Dean of ECNU's Institute for National Educational Policy Research, introduced the construction and application of the educational decision-making support system and the role of this system in supporting China's reform in education. His remarks received widespread praise from conference participants.
Twelve ECNU students from the 2014 MA Class for Developing Countries attends the conference.
In addition, 12 ECNU students of various nationalities from the 2014 MA Class for Developing Countries were invited to attend the conference. They got the chance to personally experience forums discussing new and innovative trends in the development of information technology for use in the education sector.
