A delegation led by Gina Parody visits ECNU.
On April 3rd, a delegation led by Gina Parody, Education Minister of Columbia, visited ECNU to learn more about its teacher training programs and professional development. The trip focused especially the University’s achievements in preschool and middle school teacher training, as well as international teacher education.

Chen Qun, President of ECNU, met with Parody and briefed her on the university’s policy for international exchange, especially regarding its cooperation with Latin American countries. He expressed his hope that the visit of the delegation would strengthen ECNU’s educational exchange and cooperation with Columbia. Parody spoke highly of ECNU’s progress in various aspects. She stated that she hoped China and Columbia would engage in more exchange and cooperation with regards to teacher training in the future. During the meeting, Carlos Garcia and Natalia Ariza, two Vice Ministers from Columbia’s Ministry of Education, asked for more details about ECNU’s training for teachers who will go on to work at preschools, schools for disabled students, and schools for students of marginal intelligence.

After the meeting, Parody was interviewed for the Journal of World Education and visited the university’s history museum.
Located in the northwest of South America, Columbia ranks second in population on the continent and third in economic volume among Latin American countries. May 2014 saw a visit to ECNU from Ricardo Galindo, a Columbian Consul General based in Shanghai. In exchange, Professor Yang Xiangdong from the Department of Education went to Columbia in June of that same year to attend an education forum on behalf of ECNU and share his experience of educational development in Shanghai.
