On April 16th, the assembly to elect this year’s Student Assistants to the University President was held on ECNU’s Minhang Campus. Five candidates—Ma Shengjie, Li Lupin, Wei Weige, Zhang Yanling, and Liang Shuya—won the election after intense competition and stringent assessment.

After the election, Wei Weihong, a representative for the new Student Assistants, expressed his determination to carry on ECNU’s tradition of having exemplary Student Assistants to the President. These individuals help to promote better communication between the students and the University, thereby improving the quality of life on campus.

President Chen Qun spoke highly of what the Student Assistants to the President had accomplished in the previous year, and pinned great hopes on the new members. He expressed his high expectations for their service to the students and the University.
To promote communication between students and the administration, ECNU has recruited Student Assistants to the President since 2013. After strict examinations and assessments, the first batch of Student Assistants to the President were finally chosen at the end of that year and took office in March 2014.

According to the University, the Student Assistants to President, whose terms generally last one year, bear the responsibilities of surveying student opinions, carrying out research for proposed policies, working with students to solve any problems that arise, drafting new University policies, etc. They have their own office on the Minhang Campus in Room 211, Zone B of the Student Activity Center. They also have a website (www.zhuli.ecnu.edu.cn/s/355/t/689/main.htm), an office phone, and an e-mail address to aid in their work.
