Rector of the University of Haifa Visits ECNU

On January 20, Prof. David Faraggi, Rector of the University of Haifa, paid a visit to ECNU. Together with him were Nadav Zysblat, Deputy Consul General of the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai, Doron Cucos, Senior Project Manager for Academic Affairs in the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai, and Ma Linlin, Director of the Press and Culture Section of the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai. President Chen Qun and Vice President Wang Rongming met the guests individually.

Rector Faraggi came especially to sign the memorandum of cooperation on the construction of Shanghai-Haifa International Research Center to be jointly established by ECNU and the University of Haifa, and to discuss some details of cooperation between the two universities under this framework in such fields as preschool and special education, brain functional genomics, data science, double degree in MBA education.

President Chen Qun extended his warm welcome to Rector Faraggi and  Deputy Consul General Nadav Zysblat and to other members in the delegation. He said that he had looked forward to the establishment of the center and the full-fledged cross-university cooperation, which, he believed, would further promote the strategic partnership between the two universities. Prof. Faraggi said that the University of Haifa put great emphasis on its cooperation with ECNU and the two universities were well matched in many aspects. He also said that the municipal government of Haifa would also give full support to the construction of Shanghai-Haifa International Research Center. According to Nadav Zysblat, the cooperation between the two universities had moved from the initial stage of agreement signing to the crucial stage of adopting practical measures to materialize the agreement and both the Israeli government and the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai would provide policy as well as fund support for the establishment of the center and the long-term cooperation between the two universities.

In the end, both sides signed the memorandum of cooperation on the joint construction of Shanghai-Haifa International Research Center, which marked another milestone in the cooperation between the two universities after the signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation.
