The seminarexhibit some books of theClassic and Interpretation Book Series.
On January 10, a conference titled “Restarting from the Classics: A Seminar on the 15th Anniversary of the Publication of Classic and Interpretation Book Series,” organized by Huaxia Publishing House and the ECNU Press, was held at Renmin University. Prominent leaders from Education, Science, Culture and Public Health of the National People’s Congress’ Committee, the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and representatives from ECNU attended the seminar and gave high praise to the book series.
Prof. Liu Xiaofeng and Prof. Gan Yang gave speeches at the seminar.
Prof. Tong Shijun, Chairman of ECNU University Council, and Wang Yan, President of the ECNU Press, introduce theprogress of the book series.
Huang Jinshan, President of Huaxia Publishing House, and Wang Yan, President of the ECNU Press, reviewed the origin and progress of the book series and shared their experiences with publishing. They also listened attentively to advice and suggestions given by guests and experts in attendance. Prof. Liu Xiaofeng and Prof. Gan Yang, the chief editors of the series, gave speeches centered on the theme “Restarting from the Classics”.

At the seminar, scholars and experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Sichuan, among other cities, conducted in-depth discussions that included topics such as“Marx and Traditio”,“The Origins of Chinese Culture and the Present Era”, and“Origins of Western Culture and the Present Era”.
More than 30renowned scholars of the country attend the seminar.
Designed and implemented in 2000, theClassic and Interpretation Book Seriesis divided into three parts.The Western Tradition—Classic and Interpretation Seriesaims to enhance Chinese scholars’ in-depth understandings about western thoughts and philosophies by providing detailed explanations of the texts;the Chinese Tradition—Classic and Interpretation Series promotes academic achievement and a restoration of emphasis on tradition within a modern academic context; finally,the Classic and Interpretation Seriesis geared toward collecting the latest academic achievements and presenting them in featured publications. As one of the largest-scale book series events since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Classic and Interpretation Series, with its publication of 350 books in 15 years, has become influential in China’s academia.
