Debaters from eight top universities of the Yangtze River Delta participate in the competition.
On Dec.6-7, Tenth Debate Competition of Eight Universities in Yangtze River Delta was held in ECNU. Debaters from eight “Project 985” universities had heated debates focusing on the theme “Talents Cultivation and Youth Responsibilities in Global Era”.
This year’s debate competition was divided into preliminary, intermediary and excellent debater contests. Groups from Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Tongji University, University of Science and Technology of China, as well as Southeast University took part in the competition.
ECNU wins the silver medal.
During the 2-day competition, debaters had heated discussions and arguments on topics such as adhering to principles VS drifting with the current, responsibility VS capability, and global mind VS Chinese heart. In the end, Nanjing University and University of Science and Technology of China won gold medals, ECNU and Southeast University got silver medals and the rest, bronze medals. He Yangdong from ECNU and Deng Hanwen from Shanghai Jiaotong University were honored as the best debaters.
Debate Competition of Eight Universities in Yangtze River Delta is an important platform for top universities in this region to conduct cultural exchanges. Discussions on debating topics related to hot issues help to broaden horizons, energize thinking, enhance logical reasoning and comprehensive qualities of students. The next competition will be held in Zhejiang University.
