UNT President Visits ECNU

On Nov. 13, Neal Smatresk, President of University of North Texas(UNT), visited ECNU for the first time after taking office. Chen Qun, President of ECNU, met him on Zhongbei Campus.

 Smatresk and Chen sign contracts on students exchagne andjoint laboratory.  

During the meeting, Chen expressed welcome to Smatresk and introduced the history, discipline characteristics, research and the internationalization process of ECNU in detail. Chen hoped that more undergraduate students of ECNU could have the opportunity to study in UNT in the future.


Smatresk introduced UNT and its leading disciplines, including arts education, environment ethics and sustainable development as well as journalism. Both sides discussed in depth the upcoming programs of students exchange and joint laboratory of educational information technology and signed contracts.

After that, Smatresk visited the History Museum of ECNU and Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Digital Education Equipment.

 Smatresk visits the Open Education School of ECNU.

Founded in 1890, UNT is the largest public university in Texas with more than 36,000 students. ECNU is one of the three universities in China that has deep cooperation ties with UNT. The year 2008 saw the beginning of cooperation between the two universities and since then, UNT has sent professors to give lectures and hold academic symposiums in ECNU. In 2000, UNT sent its jazz band to participate in the music festival of ECNU, which impressed ECNUers deeply.
