On October 16, the 63rd birthday of ECNU, the University got a special present from Su Xiao, a student from School of Geographic Sciences. He donated some ancient coins and bronze mirrors he had collected to the University’s museum. That made Su the first student who had ever donated cultural relics to the University’s museum.
On behalf of the University, Chen Jing (L) accepts Su Xiao's donation.
Being a fan of cultural relics, especially ancient coins and bronze mirrors, Su came up with the idea of donation after visiting the University’s museum. “I want to donate two coins of the Qing Dynasty and some coins of the Song Dynasty. It’s my great pleasure to make a contribution to the museum, which is home to cultural relics,” said he.
Of the two Qing Dynasty coins, one is carved with 24 characters of blessing and longevity in Chinese characters and the other with characters meaning those who got top scores in exams. Besides, Song also donated a mirror of Ming dynasty. The Mirror carved with twelve zodiac signs will be an important object of the museum, which features a collection of bronze mirrors.

Currently, embroidery and textile exhibition is being held in the museum, displaying embroidery and brocade of various nationalities, genre painting from Vietnam, New Year Pictures of Yangliuqing in Tianjin, and other collections.
