Shanghai Chinese Calligraphy Research Center Set up in ECNU

On May 9, the inauguration ceremony of Shanghai Chinese Calligraphy Research Center, co-established by ECNU and Shanghai Literature and Art Association, was held in ECNU.

Chi Zhigang, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Literature and Art Association, and Ren Youqun, Vice President & Vice Chairman of ECNU’s University Council, unveiled the plaque for the Center.

 

On the ceremony, Ruan Rongchun, head of ECNU's Institute of Art, and Pan Shanzhu, Secretary-General of Shanghai Calligraphers Association, on behalf of both sides, signed the agreement.

The two sides have attached great importance to the establishment and development of the Center. It aims to attract leading talents to further the research in calligraphy of Shanghai style as well as to promote the disciplinary construction and personnel training of calligraphy as a major in universities among Shanghai.

 

After the ceremony, the guests visited the calligraphy exhibition of over 50 famous calligraphers from contemporary and modern Shanghai.
