On the afternoon of March 2, teachers and students of ECNU held a party in the ballroom at the Students’ Center on Minhang campus to celebrate the arrival of the Tibetan New Year.
Tibetan students in traditional costumes made their debut by singing and dancing to express their joy. The song chorus and the rhythmic dances showed the enthusiasm of the Tibetan guys. Besides, The Blessing of Spring, played by Tibetan students made the party a place of a joyous festival atmosphere.
During the party, students of other nationalities also performed wonderful programs. The party reached its climax when all the participants sang Tibetan songs and danced Guozhuang, a traditional Tibetan dance with people singing and dancing in a circle.
ECNUers hold a party to celebrate the Tibetan New Year.
Before the party, Tibetan students boiled “Gu Tu” (a kind of doughball composed of nine kinds of ingredients) by themselves in Hexi canteen on Minhang campus on Feb 28 to pray for good luck, peace and well-being of the upcoming Tibetan New Year.
Many Tibetan students said although they couldn’t spend the Tibetan New Year with their families, they could also feel the family warmth when they spent the festival with their teachers and classmates in the university.
